Bananas World Tour - Asia
"I never thought that such a
few people could make so much noise."
Chen Lanfen, 19-year-old Beijing student
After a very succesful North American tour, Deep Purple
took off for the Far East. The atmosphere at the initial Japanese show
was ecstatic with audience reactions surprising even the band.
In China however, the band were brought back down to earth by authority
clamp downs. One report said, "the police took over the first show
and would not let any fans onto the floor near the band, so the audience
was 75 feet away from the front of the stage. Very strange."
