NOT A REVIEW, just a few memories (I've got better things to do than take
notes!).
Set list as before, our variant was 'Bloodsucker' - a highlight.
Lots of good humour and fun between the band. Ian being teased
mercilessly over previous wrong intros to songs! Someone in the crowd
had been shouting for one particular number so Ian tells him yes, we'll
be doing that later, only to have the rest of the band yell no we won't!
There ensues a brief period of pantomime 'oh yes we will' - 'oh no we
won't' ended by Ian yelling ' well I'll certainly be doing it later!'
Band delivered a very powerful set, everyone giving good value. Jon is
rather low in the mix at times though which is rather a shame when you
could tell he was very busy about the ivories (I gather this has been
common to a number of shows), his solo included the local folk tune and
nursery rhyme 'on Ilkley Moor bar tat' which went down well with the
crowd. (Jon, you can stick in as many Beethoven reference in your
solos as you like for me mate!)
Crowd seemed perhaps undersandably a bit static during some of the newer
songs but seemed to respond better and better to them as the night went
on. I love the new disc so was surprised and pleased to hear the numbers
could sound even better live!
Overall, a top quality band delivering an excellent performance,
with an obviously genuine concern that there fans get really good
show, superb!
