Review of Denver

Review of Deep Purple at Fiddler's Green in Denver. Well the last time I saw Deep Purple was in Gothenburg, Sweden on 6-11-94 with Satriani which was a magical show. The show started at 6:15 because of the noise restrictions at Fiddler's. The guy's from Dream Theater look pissed off that they were playing in front of about 200 hundred people with traffic at rush hour it is almost impossible to be anywhere in the city by 7:30. These guy's were very talented, the bass was one of the best players I have every seen. They played for 45 minutes.
ELP was up next the seem to play forever, I'm not a big fan of bands with out lead guitar players. But they are a talented band. Deep Purple was up next at about 9:00 p.m. they walked onthe stage. Set list:

Vavoom: Ted the Mechanic
Strange Kind of Women
Bludsucker
Pictures of Home
Almost Human
Women from Tokyo
Watching the Sky
Any Fule Kno That
Steve's Solo/the end was part of purpendicular not sure what [Probably Cascades. - Ed.]
Smoke on the water
Lord's solo
Lazy
Perfect Strangers
Speed King with Peggy Sue
Highway Star

Ted not one of mine favorite tracks, I was hoping for Hush. Strange Kind is a good song but Fireball would have been better. Bludsucker was great what a killer track. Pictures of home was killer the played this last time I saw them always a favorite. Almost Human was next I didn't like the song much low point of the show. Women from Tokyo a good song over played through. Watching the Sky this was the best song of the night a classic already what powerful song. Any Fule Kno That a good song sounded great. Steve solo was great he is a very technical sound player, not a great blues player. Smoke a good version don't like Steve's guitar tone on this one. Lazy great song but Steve isn't a blues player. Perfect Strangers a headbanging classic to bad there isn't much of this music left. Where have all the hard rock music gone. Speed King great song Steve was great. Highway Star was very good should play sooner in the set.
Ian voice was sounding great till the last three songs then it faded, I don't know if it is the cold or his age. Roger and Paice great bottom end true pro's. Jon Lord is still the best. Steve very talented I would still rather have seen Satriani stay with the band. These guy's really enjoy playing together, maybe because the are done with Ritchie. Great Show!
