Concert Review 8-23-98 Hinckley, MN
Finally they have returned to Minnesota! I was too hopped up on goofballs in the 80's to see them and have waited patiently ever since.
Opened with Ted, not sure if this works as an opener, people seemed a little confused but it is a great introduction to Steve.
"Bludsucker"...probably the highlight of the night for me whoever decided to pull this off the shelf thank you.
Ian still seems to be having some problems with his throat but still put on an excellent show...he kept going offstage to "adjust something" as he put it.
Other highlights: Morse's guitar solo (not usually something I'm into but well done), "Lazy" (Can this song ever get old?), "Speed King" (Great interplay between Ian, Steve, & John), the drunk biker spilling 2 beers on me and then trying to get his $6 out of the college kid he bounced off (piss off).
"Watching the Sky" is going to be a classic live I would love to see the famed light show of the 80's put to the test on this one.
When you see them listen to the song they play after they leave for the night...it's a lounge version of a favorite, does anyone know where it came from? (I was snapping and scattin' along with it :=) [This is a lounge version of Smoke on the water, done by Australian comic/musician/etc. Rolf Harris. -Ed.]
All in all a great show and can't wait for them to return again. Hopefully will have some pictures to send later this week!
