Deep Purple 18 aug 1998 Montreal
Great show, great music great time.....great memories.... I love Steve's guitar playing, I love his music, I love his talent, but he alone ain't Deep Purple! I want to hear Ian scream... I want to hear Roger play his bass, I want to hear John do his thing, and I want to hear Ian play....! I heard all of that tonight but not enough because Steve took center stage. Ian's voice was not up to par....(he was coughing throughout the show!) I wish I could of hear a couple of those EEEEEOOOOOOWWWWWW's. I didn't hear enough of John's playing......he was a whisper in the background ! Roger's bass was great, but again only a whisper...... Ian's playing was great..... I didn't hear enough of the Deep Purple I know (Ian G., John, Roger, Ian P.)! I have been a fan for a long time (since the late 70's). You guys have been my favorite band since I can remember. Yes.....Steve's guitar was fabulous (I managed to get 3 guitar picks from the guy during the show....I was the guy sitting front row with the green DP t-shirt dancing during most of the show even if the security guards were telling me to sit down!) The SET was great. (wish they played Child in Time! and Knocking on your back door but time was an issue here!). It was great to hear a complete live version of Woman from Tokyo. Wish I would of heard a real voice/guitar duel at Strange Kind of Woman...! I know that Ian's voice was not up to par so Steve took over but I wish John, Roger and Ian P. would have taken up more space on stage! Anyways, I just loved the show.... DEEP PURPLE WILL BE MY FAVORITE BAND FOREVER !
Keep it going guys......some of us out there love you guys and the music you do, and I will always love the band! If you ever come back to Montreal.....trust me....I'll be there....!
