Another remarkable show! I consider myself to be so very privileged to have been able to see two shows (see review of Great Woods/August 8), and would see every single one if I had the chance! Now that you have the feel for where I am coming from (from a totally objective point of view, of course), let me tell you how wonderful Deep Purple are. . .truly a class act. From the moment they began with the very funky Hush (a great song to dance to) to the last bars of the hard rocking Highway Star (a great song to raise your arms in the air to), they performed with tremendous style and substance-giving every bit of what they had with generous enthusiasm to the crowd. What a special group of people Deep Purple are! Their hospitality was shown in many ways-inviting the fans to come closer-even to dance on stage (Hello, Mark!), telling us that we are "superb", shaking hands, smiling, waving, and acknowledging as many people with eye contact as humanly possible! Ian Gillan parts by telling us "we love you", and you can see and feel that it is true. Deep Purple make you feel like you have been invited to Christmas dinner at their house. . .Don't miss this show if you can help it, and support these talented and gracious people by purchasing Abandon! They deserve it!
