Olympiahalle München, Germany, Jun 28, 1998
On Sunday evening i visited my sixth DP-concert since ´85 and it was one of the best. The Munich Olympic-hall is known for its awful acoustics, so the best place in a concert is the arena. But in the evening the soundmix was really great. The show began at 8 PM with the german HM-band RAGE, they played nearly 45 minutes. Their gig was not bad, but it didn´t really push the audience. DP startet at 9:20 PM and played for approximately 2 hours. From the first song, an exciting version from HUSH, it was evident that all bandmembers were in a very good shape. Especially Ian´s voice was very clear and strong, and he had no problems at the whole gig. GREAT. The solos were very good, especially the question-and-answer by Steve and Ian, the duelling between Jon and Steve and the short but nice drum solo from little Ian. The setlist was a good mixture from old and new songs. The audience was really excited by these great band, they were dancing, moving and singing all the time and it seemed the band did enjoy the show as much as we did.
Thank you very much DEEP PURPLE for this great concert !
