A.Band.On.Tour Stockholm
Stockholm Concert Oktober 3rd 1998.
Solnahallen sports arena, Solna, Stockholm. Capacity 3500, sold out and more wanted to get in.
The set list was the same as in Finland.
Ian Gillan was in excellent form. His voice was better than the last times I've seen them. He screemed like never before and the voice held all evening. His a great showman, he's having fun and it shows.
I didn't really like Steve Morse's guitarsound on Abandon but on stage he was just fantstic. He doesn't play like the man in black, he plays like Steve Morse. And yesterday in Stockholm I didn't miss TMIB at all.
Roger Glover is playing better than I've ever seen him. He's having fun laughing and joking and at the same time keeping the rythm going like there was nothing to it.
It's hard to understand how you can be so concentrated and at the same time looking so relaxed.
And what about little Ian? Where does his energy come from? Paice is driving the sound again, doing more during the songs. Not just the basic drumming a lot more work and it's wonderful to hear him in such a good form.
And of course MY SWEET LORD, the Maestro, the Hammond wizard, with a masters degree in ebony and science degree in ivory. No words can describe that gentleman, Mr. Jon Lord.
They gave us the best 1 hour and 50 min. ever. I wasn't certain that Ian's voice would hold or how they would sound but they were having a ball and so had we. I had to drive 500 km to see them but i'd gladly do it again tomorrow. Don't miss them.
