Review of show at Solnahallen, Stockholm 981003
At Saturday 3/10 me, my brother and two of his friends went to see Deep Purple at Solnahallen, Stockholm. I had never seen Purple before so I was really looking forward to it.
When we arrived the opening act, Hammerfall already had begun playing. I usually like Hammerfall but i must say they were quite pathetic, they looked like clowns, and as if that wasn't enough they also played Man on the silver mountain(!), can't help wondering why.
Around 20:30 Purple got up on stage, they opened with Ted the mechanic and the rest of the show was over way too soon, the 100+ minutes felt like fifteen. It's amazing to see how great they still are, the vocals are breathtaking, and the music fantastic. When Gillan screams "I Thank You!" you can't help shivering. The other songs included were Bloodsucker, Strange Kind Of Woman, Pictures of Home, Almost Human, Watching the Sky, Woman from Tokyo, Any Fule, Lazy, Smoke On The Water, Perfect Strangers and Speed King + the encores 7th Heaven and Highway Star. For me the highlight was Bloodsucker, the screams were amazing. But all of the songs sounded great. If you get the chance, go see them, it's pure magic...
