[ d e e p P u r . p l e ) The Highway Star

Heppenheim, Freilichtbühne

I'm a big Deep Purple fan since 1978, but this was the first time I saw this legendary group live.

My impression was: The audience was overcome by DP's enormous energy that is not to compare with any music coming from a CD or even a live LP of the earlier times.

The musicians really gave all that they could give in front of a city scene with skyscrapers.

When the first groove was to be heard, nobody could control his body anymore.

A state of trance came over us, it took us higher and higher, while the powerful chords and Ian's voice hammered in a tremendous beat.

The mud splashed by jumping around and covered our bodies.

When Jon played his keyboard solo after "Smoke on the Water", standing alone on the stage, the spirit of rock took possession of our minds.

The same happened when Steve played the history of legendary rock musicians, such as: Jimi Hendrix, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and many other unforgetable grooves, supported by great Roger on bass, and powerfully drumming Ian.

I'm so happy I could be a part of this all.
