Airey The Greek

Although I'm a dedicated fan of Deep Purple for life, I'll try to be as objective as possible about their last concert in Athens. I think that whoever was in Lycabettus open Theater that night had the chance of a lifetime to be present where music history was being written.

Don Airey shook the whole theatre when he played parts of "Ta Paidia Tou Peirea" and "Zorba The Greek", probably the two most famous greek songs all over the world. Steve and Roger sang an old r'n'r song along with Ian. Don and Steve had a keyboards vs guitar duel and the fans who had filled the theatre almost one hour before the concert started, wouldn't stop screaming!

I have no idea what goes on in other countries, but I think that Steve must be more than happy with his experience in Greece, as the fans cried out his name many times, even since the very first time he played here with DP, showing recognition and acceptance.

In a few words, it was really a night to remember. I only wish it had lasted a little longer.
