Smooth as silk
To hear a band play with the same passion and intensity as it did 30 years ago is not heard of these days. (Just listen to Skynyrd ... if you're still there.) Listening to these guys tonight was like playing the old albums. The freshness and that 'elusive element' as Gillan once called it is UN-remarkable because it is difficult to describe it. As for the setlist, unfortunately it was too short this time around but maybe that's just business. However, "Fools" was the surprise of the evening having never heard it live before. Ian Paice's drumming was what Ian Paice has been over the years... SMOOTH AS SILK! Every beat and crash was placed exactly where it should be. Jon Lord once said there is life after Blackmore and there is. If the band gives every night what they gave tonight get your tickets early. P.S. Nugent is a good opening act, but Ted, drop the volume.
