A long time listener's first Purple concert
Well, where should I begin? Dave Mason opened the show and got our ears warmed up. Good job Dave!!!
And then, one by one, there they came. But when Gillan came out he had on these red leather pants and a Jimmy Buffet shirt, and no shoes. Were those guys at the beach that day or what? [Possibly - Ian has certainly taken a likening to wearing bare soles onstage recently. Rasmus]
They started with "Woman From Tokyo" which sounded great, and then I couldn't believe they played "Mary Long" - I was a "Who Do We Think We Are" 8-track-aholic. I've bought this 8-track cassette 5 times over the years. And of course they played their mega hits, "Lazy", "Smoke On The Water", "Hush" and "Highway Star" - great show, guys!!!!!!!
