Sydney Concert
Flew across the Tasman to check out Purple at the Sydney Entertainment
Centre for their concert on Saturday 10 March. Well worth the exorbitant air fare us Kiwis have to pay to get to Australia.
Saw Purple play in N.Z. in 1975 and then in 1984 boy they just keep
getting better don't they!
Here's the set list:
"Woman From Tokyo"
"Ted The Mechanic"
"Mary Long"
"Lazy"
"No One Came"
"Black Night"
"Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming"
"Fools"
"Twinkle Twinkle little star" / "Perfect Strangers"
"Hey Cisco"
"When A Blind Man Cries"
Medley: "Sweet Home Alabama" / "Can't Get No Satisfaction" / "House Of The
Rising Sun" / "Freeride" / "Stairway To Heaven" (plus possibly some others hiding in Steve Morse's great guitar virtuosity) then that anthem, "Smoke On The Water"
"Speed King" (incl. "It's now or never")
Encore:
"Hush"
"Highway Star"
What Can I say? Two hours of shear Purple brilliance! May they rock on forever!
Regards,
