Deep Purple Show, Pittsburgh 12/6
I went to the Pittsburgh Deep Purple show tonight. I went wondering if
all the other people on this web site might be just the ones that
enjoyed the show--and the negative reviews had been cut. But, I can
assure you, our exprience was the same--EXCELLENT!!
The warm-up band was outstanding. They even covered Hendrix well. It
wasn't Hendrix, but as the saying goes, it was the next best thing to
being there.
The crowd was enthusiastic, and the beer was flowing. Deep Purple came
on stage and lived up to their own legend. The classics never felt
better--"Smoke on the Water," "Pictures of Home," both almost
flawless. The joke was, 'That was Richie who??' But seriously, it was
really exceptional. The new stuff is more than interesting. It was my
first time with the new album, and I think I want one.
Ian is tired, but it's been a long tour, what does one expect? They
were tight as can be...and had a lot of fun with the crowd. The only
problem I had was that Ian's mic was a little low, and he was getting
lost in the guitars. But, other than that, I was very satisfied. And
so were 22 of the 23 people I stopped and asked on their way out. The
only guy that didn't like it said he wanted more old Purple, not the new
stuff. What are you going to do?
This is the dawn of a new age of Deep Purple. I'm looking foreward to
hearing their next album. Thanks, guys, for bringing back the spirit.
You made this old hippy feel 16 again!
