This was our second show of the tour and what a show! I was proud
to be a part of this crowd. They had as much enthusiasm for the new
material as well as the old. The minute the lights went out everyone was
out of their seats but in an orderly fashion with no pushing and
shoving. The mood of the crowd seemed to reflect on the band. Ian Gillan
was in high spirits & did a lot of in between chit-chat that was lacking
at the show in Akron. I ended up right against the stage within arms
reach of Ian Gillan.
The band was brilliant. Everyone was playing
straight from the heart. Steve morse had a permanent smile on his face
the entire evening. The set list was the same as usual except for the
unfortunate loss of Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming and the Aviator.
Pittsburgh and their stupid ordinances! Apparently the band had to be off
the stage at a certain time so something had to go.
Everyone I talked to
on the way out was saying great things about the show. Again we waited
outside and it looked like maybe it wouldn't happen this time when
finally Ian Gillan came out and said he heard there were some fans
freezing in the cold. He chatted with everyone and signed autographs and
posed for photos. Then Colin Hart came out to collect him and they were
gone. Alot of people went home very happy. Thanks Deep Purple for all
these years of wonderful music. Not to many other bands care as much
about their fans.
