Beacon show 11/26..some thoughts
Just got back from the show tonight..just as I figured: they were
spectacular. I knew Steve Morse would play as brilliantly as he did,
having seen the man play with his own band. Gillan sang much better than
I thought he would, not missing a scream. He did seem a litle tired at
times though. Jon Lord played as well as I have ever seen him in the
past 15 years. Ian Paice and Roger also played tight and solid all the
way through.
It was very nice to see the band having fun and it showed in their
playing. The musical highlights were many, but Steve's solo from When a
Blind Man Cries was gave me that tingle up my spine that I get whenever
an inspired solo hits my ears. Gillan knew it too, as he shook Morse's
hand afterward.
I sure hope the enthusiasm and intensity stays with the band as the tour
heads West..you folks are in for a treat..
