Saw them in Birmingham on the UK tour, this was a much
shorter set but a far better show IMHO. Steve Morse seems
much more part of the band now, he came to the
front centre stage to play solos and was cueing JL as
RB used to do.
Highpoints for me were No one came and the guitar/organ
duels in BN and SK, though SOTW not surprisingly got
the most enthusiastic reception from the crowd (well
it is Switzerland :-) ).
I guess the venue was more or less sold out (>5000?) and
the crowd was very loud and appreciative the whole set. The band
seemed genuinely moved by the reception which resulted
in the Aviator being added to the encore, I love this
song though, as IG said, it seemed unrehearsed and the
bass pretty much drowned out the acoustic guitar.
Finally HS with Steve making racing car noises on his
guitar during the intro to round off the evening. This
pretty much summed it up for me, SM is *the* guitarist in
DP now playing the old songs his way not just the new guy.
Well I'm moving to that DP less wasteland aka the USA in
a couple of weeks, so now is the time to
finally schedule the US tour :-)
Oh yes, the support was the Steve Whitney Band (possibly
for this date only?). They were a pretty good hard blues
rock band, finished with an ACDC medley.
