Deep Purple, Heidelberg,
27.September 1996
Just another report of Deep Purple´s "LAST CONCERT IN GERMANY". After a very weak ticket sale after the appointment the hall was almost sold out (8.000 people).
I compare the concert with Hanau in March when I first saw them with Steve Morse. This time the set-list was much shorter and I was used to hear many things you haven´t heard before. Obviously "Fireball" wasn´t recognized by many of the people as there was almost no reaction and singing by the audience during this song. Also "Ted.." was only welcomed by a few people. But after these two trax the audience was by their side.
It was a extremely good concert. The band seemed to be more compact than in March even though I hoped for some new surprises ("Into The Fire" or whatever?). Steve Morse did a guitar workshop in the afternoon which I was told was great too. Lets hope´it wasn NOT the last concert in Germany.
