If the Helsinki gig was great, then so was Tallinn.
I had a standing ticket for the Tallinn gig, and as soon as I got in the hall,
I tried to get as near the stage as I could, and I finally ended up at the left
side of the stage, just where Glover usually plays. Saku Suurhall in Tallinn
was built for the Eurovision song contest, and it is quite big, holding about
10,000 people.
Then started the waiting. The doors opened at 18.30 and the gig started 20.30
(it was supposed to start 20.00). I stood the whole time there in front of the
stage, with only about two rows of people in front of me. As I said, Heep
took the stage at 20.30. Their show was not as good as in Helsinki, somehow
it lacked the spark, but was good anyway.
Purple however didn't disappoint me. They took the stage at 22.00 and
played for about 100 minutes. It was exactly the same setlist as in Helsinki
which was a bit disappointing. The gig may have not been as great as in Helsinki
overall, but some parts were better.
Well Dressed Guitar in Tallinn was the best version I've heard (I have some
bootlegs of it), with Morse playing inspiredly. Glover had a longer solo in
Tallinn, and Gillan sang some weird song (apparently some children's song) in
between Hush and Hit the Road Jack.
The audience was great! They really participated, and the sing-along of Black
Night was really great.
My second Purple-gig, and a great one indeed.
