Scandinavian Congress Center, Århus, Denmark
November 29, 2003
I flew in from England to a cold Saturday morning
in Denmark to be greeted by warm friendly people and the promise of seeing the
worlds greatest rock band again (see my reviews of Cardiff '74 and '02).
This was my fifth time seeing the band and probably the finest. My day in Arhus
got better and better. I heard the band were doing a signing so we all went
down to Montreux, I mean the Studio store and the guys all turned up around
3pm. I got the original Machine Head signed by the original members and Steve
and Don signed the Bannans cd for me. What a great bunch of guys they are. Thanks
for taking the time out for the fans, something Purple have always done.
What a show; to be entertained by another classic rock band in the guise of
Uriah Heep was a great way to kick off the show and they were in fine form doing
a greatest hits set.
Our Purple Rock Gods hit the stage with the best opener around, the inimitable
Highway Star. Superb sound and musicianship alround!
These guys really do enjoy their work. The set list was the same as the previous
Scandinavian gigs with the usual greats such as Strangers, Lazy and Smoke. Steve
and the boys were hot. Don mentioned at the after gig wind down that it was
one of the best on the tour so far. We all sang Happy Birthday to Roger at 12
in the dressing room and wished them well for the rest of the tour.
If you get a chance see this band, it's like a finely tuned workhorse machine
that never disappoints!
There will always be numbers you would like to hear but the enthusiasm of the
new ones just breathes fresh life. I think House of Pain should stay in as a
classic like Back Door and Strangers.
The crowd didn't want to let these guys go and very good reason.
Roger mentioned there is a documentary on him in the HTV region on Dec 4 or
8th for those who can receive same.
Happy Christmas to all Purple fans and to the Band.

Just fantastic.
First I was lucky to meet the guys and then their performance was brilliant.
It was a fantastic show with so much nerve, I can't remember I have seen before.
You really can see they enjoy to play and entertain.
Thank you Purple, hopefuly we'll see you again!
