Flight of the... substitute A great evening with Ian Paice and Bernhard Welz (the ultra Paicey fan) who was had organised this special concert. He put together a good band including himself and Ian Paice on drums. It was great to see Paicey with a second drummer. Both seemed to have fun doing this unusual gig. The setlist included songs like Space Truckin', Maybe I'm A Leo, Highways Star, Strange Kind Of Woman, Hush, Speed King (with Ian alone, including his famous solo) and so on. It was very interesting to hear Flight Of The Rat which Bernhard played alone. Paicey watched from onstage the performance of this old Purple tune which (I guess) he never played live with Purple. [So why didn't he play it here?! Rasmus] After the show I had the great pleasure of meeting Ian Paice for the fourth time in my 'Purple life' (he is my all time favourite drummer) and he was so kind to sign his signature snaredrum for me and also do some photos. A great evening and a great show. Sam Schlagenhaufen, Graz, Austria
