Silver sparkle in Oberösterreich As I couldn't see Ian's Clinic in Vienna last year (which was cancelled) I was very pleased to hear about this gig in Wels, Upper Austria. As a big fan of his drumming style which inspired me to play the drums myself in 1975, I watched him several times with Deep Purple (please guys, what's about a gig in Vienna again?), but never saw him that close. Planning my trip to Wels I got to know the drummer Bernd Welz, who got the opportunity to play this gig together with Ian (well, you made your dream come through). Bernd did his job on his red Pearl set very well (which looked like Ian's set, just right-handed) - congratulations. They had a very good band in front, and performed 90 minutes of very great Purple songs with a very charming and relaxed Ian Paice on his silver sparkled drumset (seemed he had fun too). Thank you so much for this experience - I think it's rare, new and wonderful, what Ian is doing for us all with such projects.
