Real music! Excellent - what a cracking gig. Due to the terrible traffic problems and the football match on the same night we missed The Planets. Did we miss anything? After a quick attempt to dive into the bar, the buzzer went off so it was a scramble to get back into the seats and here's a first; a band onstage at precisely 8:30pm... Unheard of?! Gillan in brilliant voice got everyone going. The atmosphere in the City Hall is usually cracking as you can get near the band. Gillan mentioned a few times that they felt part of the audience. They all seemed relaxed and happy to play, loads of humour and banter with Airey doing a bit of the local Blaydon Races and Star Wars thrown in. Yes, we felt the earth move! Morse is a good guitarist and works hard... he fits in well. Good lighting, good sound and the added 'surprise' of Lord's appearance. What more could you ask for? I'm greedy - I wanted more but it all finished at 10:15 - an early nite for all. Purple are alive and kicking, long may they continue. Let's all spread the message that real music is out there and don't we just love it? Come back soon. Please.
