Bonus Maiden The set started of with Fireball and went straight into Woman From Tokyo. Mary Long and Ted The Mechanic were given an airing - the latter and Well Dressed Guitar being the only 'new' numbers played. Don Airey proceeded with a solo as when the lights went down up popped Jon Lord. Perfect Strangers and Speed King are delivered with the usual force. During Smoke and Highway Star, both Jon and Don are behind the keyboards giving texture to these pieces of rock history. Great experience to see two 'versions' of Purple on stage. Then the added bonus of guests Janick Gers, Bruce Dickinson and Nicko McBrain to join in on Smoke. Also good to be back in a theatre setting like the Odeon, or the Apollo as it is now. Hopefully more of the same at Birmingham next week. Apologies for the brief review, but still need to recover from 250 mile round trip from the Black Country and being awake for 20 odd hours.
