Turned away by greed
As an older fan of Deep Purple I have followed their career from the beginning
and from behind the 'iron curtain'. As a long time resident of Tucson and living
right next to the Pascua Yaqui reservation where the concert was happening I
decided to see the Purples in my new locality. To my surprise I was turned away
by rude tribal security who wouldn't let me bring a lawn chair (for the fear
that I could have a bomb inside), no water allowed (in June and 92degrees at
9.30pm) and of course no
cameras (so I cannot send you any pictures). The experience was topped off by
the presence of KPLX radio who was sponsoring the concert and one of the employees
was just laughing at me, he thought it was funny. Anyway, next day I talked
to a couple of friends and they liked Deep Purple, but hated the greed and inefficiency
of the tribal operation. Well, it is right next to their casino. I won't be
back to spend my money.
