A flood of memories

Hot Sunday night in Dallas Texas at the Smirnoff Music Center. Deep Purple was the headliner for the Dio / Scorpions show. Their set started at 9:15pm.

Crowd was a rock'n'roll crowd. Bikini tops, shorts and tattoos were plentiful. Many searching their memories for where have all the years gone as well as some younger fans that prove that bands like this are here to enjoy.

Stage was nice. Backdrop looked like a scene from Quake when you look up at the sky. Five tear light racks, smoke machines, strobes, Martin stepper spots and lights pointing towards the audience at times helped the metal bands through their sets.

You could tell that these guys have done this before. Ian G had white on and no shoes, Steve Morse played effortlessly as usual with a grin on his face. Glover was on the left and looked like he did 25 years ago. Ian P played well. The keyboardists had something to prove as the shoes were being filled. He did a nice job, Yes, he plays well. Intros were excellent at times and focused on one artist. The Purple transitions were good to hear.

The only thing to make this better was if Coverdale came and sang Burn. Watching these guys brought back memories of the band, their past shows and bandmembers who were and who weren't there. Memories of who helped make this band a success over the years. Memories of where we were when we saw them before at other times of our lives.
