Back to... Asia 2002 reviews |
Indonesia's second chance This is the third time I saw Deep Purple. Firstly, in Jakarta about 27 years ago, when DP Mark 4 promoted the Come Taste The Band album. At that time I was 16 years old. Next, I saw DP Mark 7 in The Warfield Theatre, San Francisco, CA (USA), four years ago. And, now on April 30, 2002, DP Mark 8 chose Jakarta as the beginning for their 2002 Asia Tour. In my opinion, the 2002 DP concert in Jakarta is the best one. Thank you DP. We always missed you. After two cancelled shows (in 2000 and 2001), the Indonesian people got the the perfect night at the perfect concert by the perfect supergroup band. We thank-you DP, because you can open the eyes of the world, that the Indonesians were not bad as imagined by the world mass media. The Indonesians are very, very happy, and we more than just enjoyed your music and performance. The day after the show, almost all Indonesian mass media (television, newspapers, magazines) said that the DP concert in the Plennary Hall at Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC), was very good. Not only were all the tickets sold out two days before the concert, the concert itself positively improved the country's image in the world. From beginning the intro of Woman From Tokyo to finishing with Highway Star, Ian Paice, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Steve Morse and Don Airey made 6.000 people believe that they could meet their favourite band. 27 years is too long for the DP fans in waiting. So we hope in the next years DP will come again and again and again... We always missed you. The setlist: Encores:
