Powerpack in Bangkok

It was a great thing to see Deep Purple for the second time. The show was great - electrifying. It started at 8.40pm, a bit later than scheduled, but it was worth the wait. The band really enjoyed playing here - more than the crowd. It was a nice indoor arena with some 10.000 people. Some expats made the band cheer. We couldn't stand and headbang, because we were seated and couldn't even go near the stage. The crowd wasn't very receptive during the first hour of the show, but the later part kept the crowd rocking. Overall sound was loud and good.

Ian Gillan put on a superb show. Even though he seemed tired and felt low during the first song, he later made us realize that age doesn't matter. He was dressed in simple white shirt/trouser and performed the whole show bare foot. Steve Morse was great on guitar as usual, playing some electrifying solos. He was at his best during Mary Long and the riff-raff. Roger Glover was great as usual on his bass, doing some electrifying solos. The best part was during Speed King. Ian Paice was splendid. Power packed... Don Airey never made us feel the absence of Jon Lord. He played some nice solos, including a symphony. But Jon is still the Lord...!!
