The masters of anthemic rock having fun again You can feel the adrenaline flowing from the stage and the shear joy of the fiftysomethings, (plus one who isn't!), kicking the butt of every manufactured artist the music industry has thrown up over our children and us since God knows when. MORSE is new code for class axeman. Gillan's power appears undiminished. Glover can still hack it with the best of 'em (and can teach most except, maybe, Entwistle). Lord, the greyest fox, has no equal (I want him to play the church organ at my funeral) and then Paice, unfailingly tight with a percussion that spears your chest. I guess I know where my DP vinyls will be now, alongside the likes of Hendrix, Sabbath and The Who in my youngest daughter's bedroom!! Thanks to the guy standing next to me with the constantly lit spliff, and thanks to The Planets for something a bit different to start the night (the four foxes in leather, with more talent than a stadium full of 'Pop Idols', were a bonus). Most of all a big thanks to Deep Purple for providing us with an excuse to say to all the sad kids out there "now THAT'S the way it was done in our day!!"
